About Carols

Caroling is a very old custom. The first carolers were the shepperds who came to the stable where the Baby Jesus was born, and enlightened by the holy signs and the angels' singing, they spread the news in Bethleem of the wonder which they had witnessed. Carols are a priceless inheritage . They are holy, because they transcend a holy message, a word from God. But carols are good also because they serve life, and bring peace into the world and between peopole. Since ancient times, our Christmas carols and customs have been a real school of moral vitrues, fellowship and understanding

Carolers sing them with the belief that they are messengers of a better world, with the Lord's blessing who came down among us: "Sa se nasca si sa creasca, sa ne mantuiasca"(To be born, to be raised, and to save us). Carols uplift us, they renew us, they bring us closer to one-another, they make us better, more loving, more forgiving, more faithfull, they fill our souls with the peace and moral ballance which are so neceassary in the journey of life.

Carolling

The real carolling takes place on Christmas evening Carolers gather in well ordered group. Each one has a leader, usually called "overseer". The carolers are joined by a few others, who carry the recieved gifts. In the old days, each group could go carolling only in a certain part of the village, making sure they did not enter an area which was entitled to another group
